6 Quick Intuitive Tips from Laughing Divas
by Laura Kowalski
The only thing that exists in our universe is energy. Energy, I might add, that comes from a single source and cannot be created or destroyed. Everything – from furniture, to plants, to your dog, to your beer, to your computer - all come from the same source and all exist at different vibrations.
It stands to reason that - as we’re all different vibrations of the same substance - sensing and understanding things about one another, about situations, about places, about things just by being present is a natural state of being. Intuition is being able to gather information about the present situation with ALL of our senses, and processing it with the innate knowledge of patterns. It is our natural guidance system to be able to lead us through the world. It’s our factory installed Global Positioning System (GPS), and when used properly it allows us to live in a state of action, instead of reaction. Unfortunately it didn’t come with a written owner’s manual and no one you we know can tell us how to so much as find the power button.
Part of my work is to teach other people how to use their GPS. What a wonderful thing it is to have this inner guidance system.
I have been intuitive all my life, literally, ever since I can remember. For most of that time I did not have a good vocabulary for talking about intuition, the things I experienced, or an understanding of how to apply it to my world. Interestingly, this did not make my intuition waver in its strength. I learned about using it the hard way. I spent years ignoring it, pushing it away, arguing with it, wishing it would quiet down ... and in the process making my decisions and life about 300 times harder than needed.
It has been an interesting road and I’ve learned much from it, but - honestly – I could have done that one waaayyy better!
I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some wonderful mentors in this field, and have found a way to live well and powerfully with intuition. If I can help anyone have an easier time and get further ahead and sharing what I know and what I’ve learned, I’m more than willing to do it.
“Experience is not the best teacher. Other people’s experience is the best teacher.”
James Malinchak
I hope you take this opportunity to learn from me and understand that you are going many places in this lifetime, there is not one single destination. People come and go, things come and things go, but YOU are always there, and you are your best resource. So, trust yourself, and know that luck has nothing to do with success.
Much Love…

Quick Tip #1
Be Present
It sounds like a simple task to keep our conscious mind on what we are currently doing and where we currently are but in actual practice many of us cannot do it at all.
In our western world, we are always moving ahead looking for the next thing: going for the next job, the next apartment, the next meeting, the next level of school, the next vacation, the next weekend. We are encouraged to be planning and moving ahead always.
Ahead, ahead, ahead … it seems the only place to look! Though sometimes we look back … to see a grade from this exam affecting your choices now, or a choice to take a certain job shaping your choice of your latest group of friends and housing situation, and dwelling on the past.
Either way, whether you are spending your time looking forward or behind you, you are not looking right here, right now at what you have. It becomes very complicated to be present; to what you’re learning and what you’re doing. Yet it is one of the most essential tips in being clear and making choices.
If you are always mentally living in the future or the past like this, you are relying on assumptions, stories, and patterns instead of actual information to make choices. You have no evidence that the past or the future ever were or ever really will be. You are missing out on large amounts of relevant and important information that can help you make decisions more easily, now, in the present. Living in the past, or the future also gives you a general sense of being out of control.
Not sure who that works for but I know it can’t be you! Come from a place of presence, of information you have this second, this hour, this day. After all, it is all that we have.
Quick Tip #2
Be Hydrated
One of the primary ways to keep your body functioning in top form is to be hydrated. Being hydrated is also essential in being able to make clear decisions. Your ability to tune in to your own intuition and get grounded is greatly improved by drinking water. This is ESSENTIAL!
Exercising, weight loss, being in hot weather, alcohol, caffeine, salty foods, staying up late, and drugs – prescription or otherwise – all dehydrate you even more than average living so you need additional water just to break even. When you’re running around trying to get a million things done in a day, skip the caffeine and refined sugar that will make you crash even harder … stick with green tea and lots of water to get you through.
If you’re thirsty, it’s already too late you’re … in a dehydrated state. Keep your body at 70 to 80% of water by drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of water during the day as a minimum. Drink pure water - either spring water or filtered by reverse osmosis whenever possible - but definitely not chlorinated or carbonated water. A great way to remember to actually drink the water is to use the clock as a reminder: at the top of the hour, every hour, have a glass of water.
Know that your body doesn’t take a glass of water and dole it out a little bit to this organ and a little bit that organ - it prioritizes. Your first glass of water will go mostly to your brain. As you continue to drink more water, that will be distributed on a prioritized basis to the rest of your organs. Your skin will benefit last. So, drinking two glasses of water a day means there are parts of your body that aren’t getting water at all.
After about two weeks of needed hydration, your body will adjust and consider the new level of water normal. You won’t need to go to the bathroom all the time or feel bloated.
If it is “boring” to you to drink plain water, add a drop of lemon juice. But come on … if you can down gallons of coffee and soda, don’t tell me that water is a challenge!
Quick Tip #3
Meditate Every Day for 15 minutes
Don’t panic … you don’t need another religion or to sit around in robes and chant. Meditation doesn’t need to change your fashion sense. It is simply getting in to a place where you can turn off the mental chatter. Sound good? It is!
We are always willing to spend time vocalizing what is going on with us and share our problems. We pray, go to therapy, journal, blog, get on My Space or Facebook, complain to anyone around, talk to ourselves, but we rarely take time to actually listen for answers back.
And that’s what meditating is - pure and simple - listening. You will be amazed by the information that starts flooding in when you let it.
Some people are better at doing moving meditations such as yoga, walking, or dancing. Other people are better at sitting meditations, where they sit and focus on their breathing or a mentally-repeated statement. I personally love to rock in a glider or a swing while staring off into space. The only meditation that absolutely does not work is the one you do not do, so focus on finding your method.
However you choose to listen, here are the basic guidelines: it is best done at the same time each day; it lasts for 15 to 20 minutes; you empty your mind of all thoughts; there’s no mental chatter, and there is no judgment or feedback. Meditation is usually coupled with deeper breathing than is normal for us, which facilitates bringing more oxygen into the entire body and giving us space to breathe and a chance to clear body, mind, and soul. There is no talking, no “output.” Aside from music – which is optional – there is usually no “input” either.
A 20 minute meditation has the same effect on your body as 2 hours of sleep. Now don’t you think that would be helpful after staying up late, night after night?
Quick Tip #4
Be Outside Every Day
Here is the one place that we really struggle as a “civilized” society. Whether you live in the city or in suburbia, you hardly ever get outside. From the house to the car to the office or school and then back again, we simply “run” around all day inside of containers. Even living in the country doesn’t guarantee a lot of time outdoors, though you may have more opportunity there than elsewhere.
Since we are all created from the same energy, the same type of matter, just with different vibrations, taking time to connect with the real outdoors daily allows us to recharge from something large and close to the source. Even though your office, book, and computer are made of this energy, too, being outside connects you to the universe like nothing else. In American society, we need to have to consciously create the habit of being outside daily so we can carry it through our lives. Today is a great day to start to create that habit and appreciation of traveling by foot as part of the daily routine.
You’ll notice that this can help to bring more presence and groundedness to your life, and can even be meditative. So how great are we feeling about walking to lunch or to the store now? Appreciate that you are getting more out of it than just cheap transport, you are hooking up to the grand scheme of things, in a four-for-one kind of way. What a deal!
Quick Tip #5
Be Grateful
Sitting around in our cars and homes or apartments and working toward the future, we often think of what it is we want to have in our lives, and see things that we don’t have yet. Desire is an excellent and crucial thing, for it gives us direction, vision, and inspiration, but once we have identified what we want to achieve, and start to walk towards it, we must remember to maintain gratitude for the things we already have in order to get there.
A principle law in our universe is that like energy attracts like energy. So, when we’re looking to bring something new into our life, and are making or have made a choice about wanting something, we need to use gratitude to create the base vibration to have something for other things we like and enjoy to be attracted to. While this gets into the issue of manifesting – a whole other book entirely – it is also helpful in making choices.
For example, you would really love to take time off and travel through Europe but aren’t sure how to make it happen. Instead of focusing on the fact that you don’t know how it will work and aren’t certain how to make it happen, carry and express gratitude for what you DO have in your life. Be grateful for the places that you do get to go, the new things you see right here where you are, the cool things in your current world. Saying aloud at the end or the beginning of everyday the things that you’re grateful for even if they’re incredibly small, sets an energetic standard of appreciation and asserts your clarity over what you do want in your life. While you are saying this and thinking this gratitude FEEL (literally in your body) the sensation of pure happiness, like being in love. Like energy is attracted to this, and you begin to gain more things that make you happy and that you enjoy.
I call this “parallel gratitude,” finding similar things between what you have and what you want and being grateful. Now, if you notice that you are unable to find anything to have parallel gratitude for, it is time to revisit your decision. For example if you say you want to travel Europe, but find yourself finding gratitude over never having to do laundry in a laundromat, not trying new food, and everyone speaking your language … maybe we need a different goal.
Quick Tip #6
LAUGH as much as possible
Life can be incredibly stressful. There are a lot of demands on you, most of them new, and you often have large, simultaneous deadlines. You have family, friends, organizations, work and/or school, and maybe you have a partner that you’re involved with. Not to mention just taking care of you! There is a lot going on and it can feel really difficult sometimes.
When making choices and facing change we often get tense, anxious, and caught up in how critical the situation is. We stop breathing and see only the intense side of it all.
STOP!
LAUGH!
Just remember that a condition may be critical but it’s never serious. Laughter is one of the fastest and easiest ways to turn any situation around. Laughter creates deep and repeated breathing, and shifts the energy almost instantly. Laughter will ground you, it will bring you back to the present, it will make you grateful, and it will make you feel good about yourself all at once. Knowing that many people cure themselves of cancer primarily by using laughter as therapy, do not doubt it has its place in making it through the stress of life.
Make a point to laugh as much as possible everyday even if it’s at silly little things. I don’t mean laughing at the expense of others but find things to laugh about even if it’s making corny jokes or knock, knock jokes that a seven-year-old told you.
